Bryant Park is one of those places that seems to transform itself every day. Today, as I was exiting the ice skating rink (which only has 4 more days to live this year) I noticed this structure under construction. I have no idea what it is and was rushing back to work so I didn't stop to ask.
Who knows what I will find tomorrow?

One More Time
There were at least 2 feet of snow on the picnic table. Everyone just seems so resigned to the fact that we are buried and more is on the way.
On the positive side - I did make it to work today and the commute was incredibly easy. That had much to do with the fact that most of the authorities urged people to stay home and they listened. I was the only member of my group in the office today.

and then it snowed again
Just to remind us that, even though the ground hog saw his shadow around here yesterday it is still winter, it snowed around 10 inches here today. It was by far the prettiest snow of the season. It was wet and heavy and a real chore to shovel. We were away for the day and had to shovel our way into our house. It was a good thing that we took our shovel with us.

Booties
This poor guy may appear to look ridiculous but he was really quite proud of himself.
After many weeks of frigid weather, Ground Hog Day gave us a taste of what we can look forward to in the weeks to come.
FYI, I hear there is a big football game going on a few miles from here. I hope they are enjoying themselves. At least it didn't snow!

Stupor Bowl Madness
Although the Super Bowl is being played in New Jersey on Sunday, New York City seems to be having all of the fun. Broadway has been turned in. to a giant amusement park and those of us who work in the area are amazed that this neighborhood could get even crazier. It's only Monday, what will things be like by Friday?

Cold
On a day as chilly as today - 4 degrees in Central Park - what better way to spend a lunch hour than the ice skating rink?
I was going to be a weather wuss and stay indoors but I was glad I made the trek, and the skate. It was invigorating and the cold kept the crowds away. Unlike yesterday, when the temps were in the fifties, the ice was smooth and fast.
I only fell once!

Maintenance
In Bryant Park today, despite the warm temperatures, there was someone with the thankless job of shoveling ice out of the fountain.
There are so many ways to make a living!
We started the day at 56 degrees Fahrenheit. Tonight it is expected to get to 6 degrees.

Gnarly!
We took a walk today in Hartshorne Woods near the the Navesink River today. A short walk through a forest that changed around every bend. Just about everyone seemed to be out with their dogs today.
A pleasant afternoon followed by a hot coffee and pastry. And tonight? It is a Chinese restaurant and a movie of course.

One more before Xmas
As I left work yesterday I snapped this photo. It was cold and rainy outside but the lobby was really the picture of warmth and shelter. Some are lamenting the "war on Christmas" but I like that it has gotten toned down. I am actually enjoying this season and find myself frequently humming Christmas songs.

Stone Snowman
The weather warmed up considerably today and for much of the day it was colder inside than outside.
We ran into this little dude when we were out on a wander
I'm at the end of a week off from work. It was quite productive. The next week should be a gentle easing back into the work life as Tuesday and Wednesday are both company holidays.

One of These Things is Not Like the Others
On a visit to Morristown, NJ today we encountered Frank Morris and Buddy the original seeing eye. Frank wasn't dressed for the weather but Buddy was fine.

A Walk in the Park
The park was quiet as I made my way to through the park this afternoon. Just beyond the bridge ducks were frolicking. I could get used to days like these filled with long walks, working in the library, and evenings to reflect on it all.

I Know it is Boring to Talk About the Weather...
We woke to another snowy day today. I particularly loved the way the powdery snow clung to the Kudzu and the trees seemed to be huddling together for comfort
